Consultant - London

The Role

We are looking for someone with 2-5 years’ experience working in a multichannel or ecommerce team.

You will have experience of one, or more, of the following: marketplace management (such as eBay or Amazon), online merchandising, category management, online trading, online marketing, UX, analytics and insight, agile development, project management, ecommerce operations, digitising the store, finance.

You are a strategic thinker with an obsessive customer focus. You have a hugely commercial focus: you love putting together a financially sound business case as much as you like solving problems.

You have the ability to see how the customer experience at the front end needs to be consistent as they move from one touchpoint to another, and you also see how different business functions need to join together to create customer excellence.

Day-to-day life as a consultant in Practicology is hugely varied. Consultants work on project teams that form, and reform with different team members depending on the scope and requirements of the project. You may be researching the state of ecommerce in Eastern Europe one day, and pulling together examples of best practice Social CRM, or being asked to improve ways of working across a marketing and ecommerce team the next. The role suits people who have depth of experience in one particular ecommerce discipline, but with a thirst to work cross-functionally and broaden their experience.

Key Responsibilities

The primary focus of your role will be the delivery of project-based consultancy work for our clients. You will be expected to analyse client’s problems and make recommendations to solve them. To do this you will:

  • Run or attend information-gathering workshops
  • Use your research and analysis skills
  • Bring your combined hands-on experience of the ecommerce and multichannel market to bear on solving client problems
  • Create compelling, and persuasive verbal and written presentations
  • Rank recommendations by impact and effort and put them in priority order, backed by commercial evidence
  • Create an action plan that demonstrates an understanding of what it takes to implement a strategy – how long things take, who needs to be involved.
  • Work collaboratively in a team that consists of Practicologists and clients alike

Personality & Culture

Practicology is a lively and friendly office, with social events throughout the year. Being a matrix environment, we work dynamically and fluidly. We look for the following qualities in our potential candidates:

  • Initiative
  • Teamwork
  • Resilience
  • Flexibility

  • Doing Thinkers and Thinking Do-ers

The role is based at Practicology’s UK offices on Little Portland Street, near Oxford Circus tube station. All Practicology consultants may be required to work offsite, at client’s offices, for example, when conducting workshops, or even as an interim resource. These can be anywhere in the UK. We also travel to the offices for our international clients when the need arises.
